    « Il fait partie de ces grands films inachevés de l’Histoire du cinéma devenus légendaires. Queen Kelly, c’est la rencontre au sommet de deux talents, le cinéaste Erich von Stroheim et la star Gloria Swanson, qui revêt également ici les habits de productrice. C’est elle qui fait appel en 1928 à Stroheim. Sa réputation n’est plus à faire : il est un génie, audacieux, perfectionniste, chantre du réalisme et auteur de Folies de femmes (1922) et des Rapaces (1924). Mais il est aussi une figure controversée, excessif, explosant les budgets et les délais. »

Filmed in 1929, Queen Kelly was released in France and Argentina in an abreviated version in 1931, and then reconstructed in 1985, this 2025 version by Dennis Doros and Amy Heller of Milestone further completes the film. The new orchestral score is by Eli Denson. Restored by Milestone Films in collaboration with the George Eastman Museum at Metropolis Post, NYC.
